Tribal leaders call for the removal of Mount Rushmore monument

Tribal leaders of the Great Sioux Reserve of the Cheyenne River Harold Frazier have asked the United States government to remove the Mount Rushmore memorial.

The monument was built in 1941 by the sculptor Gutzom Borglum, member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Among the reasons for the destruction of the work: “There is no greater monument representing the colonial submission of the Native American peoples of Mount Rushmore”.
