Today Christo and Jeanne-Claude would have turned 85

Today the masters of Land Art, Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude would both have turned 85 years old.
The Bulgarian artist passed away less than two weeks ago and was born on the same day as his wife, Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon, on June 13, 1935.

During their career, the inseparable couple had developed a special production method, which allowed them to finance their works by themselves without using sponsors or benefactors.
Since Land Art is by nature an ephemeral art, the only way to “fix” it over time is to create drawings and sketches for projects. It is precisely the works on paper that bear the costs of creating the “packaging”.
We all know the many works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, but what is the project sold at the highest price? The 1964 “Store Font (Project)” auctioned by Sotheby’s in 2015 was the most popular design, awarded for € 479,048 ($ 514,000) including expenses.
