Gagosian unstoppable, even in times of crisis expands to Athens

It is precisely in these times that are difficult to say the least for art, that mega-dealer Larry Gagosian announces, against the trend compared to most, and not to be less than the expansions of David Zwirner online, Hauser & Wirth between Menorca and Zurich, and the many galleries moved to the Hamptons , the opening of a new gallery in a location as unusual but still fascinating as Athens. The inauguration of the next 24 September will be celebrated with a personal exhibition by Brice Marden, with a selection of works entirely dedicated to Greece or inspired by it. Christina Papadopoulou, director of the new headquarters, commented on the choice made in The Art Newspaper, in relation to the Athenian and Greek art scene, identifying in the territory, “a strong potential in fast growth, an artistic fervor anything but static and a climate of tranquility advantageous to large collectors who do not like the spotlight.” It also seems not to end here the expansionist aim of Gagosian, which according to Artnet will soon open in Los Angeles.
