What are the trendsetting artists in the art market? Articker answers

In recent years Phillips has placed an emphasis on emerging artists also thanks to the series “New Now” dedicated to young contemporary names that have become central in the sphere of the art market. On this line has recently launched Articker, a revolutionary platform that marks artists based on their presence in the media: the open source intelligence tool, developed in 2014, has aggregated data on about 150,000 artists, analyzing every day about 5,000 articles from 16,000 online news sources. Created by Tomasz Imielinski and Konrad Imielinski, Articker is able to offer a unique vision in real time on artists ranging from blue-chip masters to emerging ones.

“Articker encompasses one of the largest data sets in the world of visual artists” states Edward Dolman, Phillips CEO. “Digital innovation is a top priority for Phillips and Articker’s value as a tool for our staff and clients will be immeasurable. Articker further demonstrates Phillips as a leader in information and data on art beyond the market, which is a major milestone for the company.”

How? For example, Articker’s data on Amoako Boafo indicate that the media presence of the artist has increased by 82% in the last 18 months after his big auction debut in 2019 with the painting “The Lemon Bathing Suit” sold by Phillips for £675,000, more than twenty times its low estimate.
